Using A Blog To Brand Yourself

brand yourself with a blogThe Internet is pack full of swindlers and peddlers out to make a quick dollar.  How can anyone make sure you are not in that category?  The truth is they can't ( And I do sincerely hope you are not ).

When it comes to making money on the Internet, people need to know they can trust the company they are doing business with and that they'll be around for a while if they ever need to ask questions or otherwise get in contact with them.  Actually, that's business in general.  People do business with people they like and trust.

But it's hard to build trust and relationships through a few website pages.  Consider that communication is 70%-80% body language.  With a website, there's no one there to greet them or address their concerns.  They can't look in your eye and be at easy that you're not a swindler.

To overcome this challenge, use a blog to brand yourself.

A blog carries with it a personality; YOUR personality.  While you may not physically be speaking and interacting with your audience, they can still get a good since about who you are and what you are about.  They can see your picture and get a read on what kind of personality you have.  They can read comments and see that other people trust you as well.  You also have the benefit of leveraging video with relative ease.

Personal Blog Vs. Company Blog

It's very common now for entrepreneurs to have a personal blog in addition to a blog on their company websites.  While the company blog obviously discusses areas specific to what is being sold, the personal blog focuses on building relationships.

This is your chance to connect with your audience on a deeper level.  You can share about your family or demonstrate your passions in life.  Open yourself up and let others into your life.  You'll find people are people and many, even if they have contrary views, enjoy learning about one another and value honesty and openness.
